L-R: Topshop Glow in Polished, Kiko Modern Tribes Bronzer, Urban Decay Naked Palette, Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer in Original & Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. |
As summer is fast approaching I thought it was about time to do a makeup routine that I'm constantly reaching for which is super easy and is perfect for summer in many ways.
So firstly a primer is crucial, this ensures that your base products are going to stay on all day without melting and slipping away. The Body Shop All-in-One Instablur Primer is great, it is similar to the Benefit Porefessional in consistency as it 'fills pores' and overall just makes the texture of your skin very even and locks in your foundation.
During the hotter months foundation is the LAST thing you want caked allover your face. However the Bourjous Healthy Mix Serum is a light to medium coverage foundation which is super hydrating. It feels so light on the skin like there is nothing on your face, which is what a lot of people want. For concealer the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer is a must. You're all probably fed up of me talking about this but it banishes dark under eyes and it gives off such glow and radiance.
Sweat shine is not flattering, but a nice glow can look so pretty. So setting your oily spots is something I always need to do especially in my t-zone. A cheap and cheerful product that never lets me down is the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.
I've fallen in love with the Soap&Glory Brow Tint and Pencil in Brownie Points. At first the pen scared me but it is so subtle and makes your brows so defined.
As well as priming the face, priming the eyes is a step not to miss especially if you tend to have oily eyelids or your eyeshadow is prone to crease. The Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer in Original is a beige colour which neutralises the dark or red colours on the eyelid and holds your eyeshadow all day.
For actual eyeshadow my trusty Urban Decay Naked Palette does all! I take the two matte shades Naked and Buck through the crease to define and contour the eye. Then sweep the golden shade Half Baked on the lid and blend all together. The golden eye just catches the light and looks so beautiful plus gold reminds me of summer and hot weather. Sometimes I take a Buck on the lower lash line to really complete the look.
To finish off the eyes the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara is perfect for this makeup. It opens up the eyes so much, gives ridiculous volume and length. Also it lasts all day and never transfers which is great when its hot. Panda eyes is never pretty!
Bronzer is also great in summer because it makes you looks super glowy, bronzed and fresh. I love the Kiko Modern Tribes Bronzer because it is super pigmented, although it is slighty red toned it is the perfect colour to help mimic a tan. Sadly it was limited edition and is no longer available, sorry:(.
In the summer I never usually wear blush because my cheeks are always more red because I get hot but you could always add a blush if you want to.
To finish off the face I love using a cream highlighter to make the face glowy. Topshop Glow in Polished is a must have. It is a white cream which is so reflective and pearly.
Finally lipstick choices are endless. A peach, and nude, a pink, or a bright colour, or even a lip balm! My preferred choice would be the Gerard Cosmetics Lipsticks in Kimchi Doll, a very pale pink peach - not for everyone, but I love it.
That is it!
PS: Comment some blog posts you'd like to see in the near future, I need some ideas!
Bye for now,
E x
